Visuwords Online Graphical Dictionary- An Amazing site! This site is used to find not only word meanings, but other terms and concepts associated with the word. When you type in a word, and an incredible graphic organizer appears. Each bubble has some term that is related to the original word that was searched. The associated terms are color coded for further understanding. Very neat for science concepts! It does not do well with plurals. ex. type in ocean- not oceans.
Merriam Webster's Learner's Dictionary- Dictionary that allows you to look up individual words, words found in different core categories, create personal word lists and has some fun interactive features as well.
Photographic Dictionary- Wonderful for the little ones. As you build vocabulary, they can see exactly not only what they look like, but there are videos available as well.
RhymeZone- More than just a place to find rhyming words! When typing in a single word, you can search for synonyms, antonyms, homophones, related words, poetry verses, pictures and of course, rhyming words!
Visual Thesaurus - This is a cool site, very similar to Visuwords. It is a subscription based site, but it is cheap and a great tool for your writing center.
Thesaurus.com - Along with searching for words, this site has word games, puzzles and fun facts galore!
Collins Dictionary - This is a good source to have if you are working with ESL students or are taking a foreign language. It does have a nice area of word games.
